Shooting again with Neil Ferry

I’ve been shooting again with Neil Ferry… There’s always something special about working with people who just get your vision, and that’s exactly how I feel every time I work with Neil Ferry.

After our first shoot together, I couldn’t wait to get back in front of Neil’s camera. This time, the idea was completely different. We wanted to strip everything back and create something a little more timeless—something classic. I’d always had this idea of doing a proper suit shoot, but I’ve never really found a suit that fit me the way I’d imagined.

Shooting with Neil Ferry

That’s where my good friend Ali came in.

Ali has been looking after my clothes for years, and I honestly wouldn’t trust anyone else. He’s worked with Hugo Boss and a number of other fashion houses throughout his career, yet he’s still the most down-to-earth bloke you’ll meet working in Newcastle my hometown. He always does an incredible job, always charges a fair price, and somehow manages to make everything fit exactly as it should. It’s rare to find someone who cares that much about their craft.

Once the suit was tailored, everything just fell into place. We were lucky enough to shoot at the beautiful Tyneside Cinema, one of Newcastle’s most iconic buildings. Originally opened in 1937, there’s so much character within those walls, and its stunning Art Deco interiors felt like the perfect setting for the look we were trying to create. There’s something really inspiring about creating new work inside a place that has celebrated creativity for generations.

Shooting with Neil Ferry

Working with fellow Northerners is always a joy, so shooting again with Neil Ferry is a no-brainer. There’s an honesty and warmth that makes the whole process feel effortless, and Neil has such an incredible eye for capturing personality rather than just taking photographs.

I’m really proud of what we created together, and it’s reminded me once again that sometimes the simplest ideas are the strongest.

Now… who knew I’d enjoy wearing a suit this much? Turns out I just needed one that actually fit. 🤪❤️

Back in Newcastle to see Paul Weller

It felt pretty surreal heading to Exhibition Park to see the legendary Paul Weller perform. I used to ride my bike around there as a kid, spending hours attempting (and failing miserably 😂) to master the skate park. Safe to say watching one of the greatest British songwriters of all time play there is much more up my street these days.

What a show. Paul Weller and the band were absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. The musicianship, the energy, the songs… just incredible. It’s one thing listening to those records growing up, but seeing them performed live is something totally different!

One of the best parts of the evening was catching up with Jake, Tom and Ben of Paul’s band. It’s been a while since we were all out on the road together touring with Jools Holland, so it was brilliant to see everyone backstage and have a proper catch-up.

I also finally got to meet Steve Cradock from Ocean Colour Scene, who I’ve only ever spoke to online so it was great to finally meet in person! He was every bit as lovely as I’d hoped.

Seeing Paul Weller in Newcastle

I’ll never forget the kindness and hospitality of Paul, the band and the crew have shown me. I’ll always be grateful that Paul trusted me enough to tour with half his incredible band and welcomed me into Black Barn Studios to rehearse. Those are experiences I’ll carry with me forever.

It was so nice to spend some time with Paul backstage before the show, chatting about music and what I’ve been up to. It’s always refreshing when someone who’s achieved so much is still so generous with their time, encouragement and advice. Those conversations mean more than people probably realise.

An incredible set, an incredible band, and above all, a genuinely lovely man. Thank you, Paul. It was pleasure. ❤️

Shooting with Neil Ferry

Had a fantastic photoshoot with Neil Ferry, a photographer from my hometown of Newcastle upon Tyne. I stumbled upon his work, especially the recent shoot with Matty Healy from The 1975, and immediately thought, ‘Wow, I need to collaborate with him!’

I got in touch with him, shared a bit about my album and project and he instantly understood what I was doing. We chatted about some ideas for the shoot and started brainstorming locations. We decided to mix studio and on-location shots. I reached out to two wonderful hotels, Hotel Gotham in Newcastle and Lumley Castle in County Durham, and they were so kind as to let us use their properties for the shoot.

It’s always great to team up with fellow Northerners, and the results of the shoot were exactly what I was hoping for. I’m looking forward to working with Neil Ferry again in the future.
